By staff writers

October 19, 2015 -- Axsun Technologies has divested from Volcano, a subsidiary of Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare.

The spin-off was made possible by investment firm Anzu Partners, which acquired Axsun. Axsun's management team will remain in place, with Jonathan Hartmann, currently vice president/general manager, leading the newly independent Axsun as CEO.

Axsun develops optical coherence tomography (OCT) and near-infrared (NIR) devices for applications including medical imaging, industrial analysis, and telecommunications.
