May 11, 2020 -- Breast CT technology developer Izotropic has received a U.S. patent for the use of its breast CT imaging system for robotic-guided biopsies.

U.S. Patent No. 11/913494, "Biopsy Systems for Breast Computed Tomography," covers Izotropic's breast CT biopsy system, which uses 3D imaging capabilities comparable to MRI. It allows for a suspicious lesion or tumor to be visualized in three dimensions and then immediately biopsied, reducing the timeline to diagnosis and minimizing the need for additional imaging and medical appointments, according to the company.
