April 16, 2002 -- The productivity per MRI system increases significantly with the volume of demand.

Sites that perform more than 10,000 procedures per site have an average volume of 5,390 procedures per unit, which is more than twice the unit productivity than those sites performing 2,000-2,999 procedures per site.

In 2001, the average number of MRI procedures in hospitals with fixed MRI units was 3,300.
