The draft reiterates the task force's 2014 recommendations:
- Men ages 65 to 74 who have ever smoked should undergo a one-time ultrasound screening for the condition (B grade).
- Clinicians should selectively offer ultrasound screening for AAA in men ages 65 to 75 who have never smoked rather than routinely screening all men in this group (C grade).
- Women who have never smoked and have no family history of AAA should not undergo routine screening (D grade).
- Evidence is insufficient to evaluate the benefits and harms of ultrasound screening for AAA in women ages 65 to 75 who have ever smoked or have a family history (I grade).
USPSTF is taking comment on the draft recommendation from June 18 to July 15, 2019.
