Canon gets FDA clearance for rapid MRI technology

By AuntMinnie.com staff writers

March 23, 2020 -- Canon Medical Systems USA has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Speeder MRI technology, which reduces acquisition times for MRI exams.

The compressed Speeder technology speeds up MRI scan times by using iterative reconstruction software to reconstruct full-resolution images from undersampled data. The technology can also help avoid unfolding error artifacts and can achieve higher resolution in 2D fast spin-echo acquisitions, the company said.

Speeder is available for use with Canon's Vantage Galan 3-tesla MRI scanner.
