MIM Software, Sitex team up to treat cancer

By AuntMinnie.com staff writers

February 12, 2020 -- Medical imaging software developer MIM Software will collaborate with radiation oncology firm Sirtex Medical to distribute yttrium-90 (Y-90) microspheres and related products around the world.

As part of the agreement, Sirtex will provide MIM Software's MIM SurePlan LiverY90 software with its SIR-Spheres Y-90 resin microspheres to help quantify and improve Y-90 treatments for cancer patients. MIM Software will reciprocate by providing service and support directly to Sirtex customers.

Y-90 microspheres are designed to deliver local radiation as permanent brachytherapy implants to liver tumors. Absorbed dose from the Y-90 microspheres is then calculated through PET or SPECT images.
