By AuntMinnie.com staff writers

July 10, 2018 -- Surgical oncology company Onkos Surgical and medical device company Insight Medical Systems have begun a joint project assessing the viability of using Insight's Augmented Reality Visualization and Information System (ARVIS) for tumor surgery.

Still under development, ARVIS is an augmented reality device capable of projecting virtual models of patient anatomy into the surgeon's field-of-view, according to the companies. The device can also display the orientation and positioning of surgical instruments and implants relative to the patient.
