May 8, 2007 -- GE Healthcare is introducing its Voluson e compact ultrasound scanner at the annual meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) this week in San Diego.

Voluson e is designed for women's healthcare, including obstetric, gynecological, and other clinical applications, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. The 11-lb laptop-sized scanner is suitable for use in labor and delivery, gynecological exams and studies, and assisted reproductive medicine, GE said.

GE is also highlighting the Breakthrough 2007 release for the Voluson i scanner, which adds features such as an improved ability to better assess patients for volumetric studies, GE said.
