Lunar adds spine imaging capabilities

Bone densitometry firm Lunar has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for Lateral Vertebral Assessment, an optional application package for its Prodigy bone densitometer. LVA provides a dual-energy image of the lateral spine, allowing physicians to visually assess the presence of vertebral deformations, according to the Madison, WI-based firm. Lunar believes that the application offers the benefit of combining bone mineral density determination and visual fracture assessment in one scan.
