December 16, 2022 -- The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Foundation has bestowed a $25,000 research grant to a team from Mount Sinai Health System in New York City.

Recipients of the grant include the following:

  • Danielle McDonagh
  • Maria Dimopoulos
  • Clodagh Starrs
  • Samantha Skubish
  • Dr. Kavita Dharmarajan

McDonagh is a clinical coordinator for radiation therapy education and research at Mount Sinai's Center for Radiation Sciences Education and a member of a Mount Sinai initiative called the National Advanced Practice Radiation Therapy Working Group, which seeks to define, develop, and support the practice role for radiation therapists.

The group plans to use the award funds for a pilot study that will address radiation oncology throughput challenges and seek to improve the model of care for inpatients undergoing radiation therapy. When the study is completed, its results will be published in the ASRT's Radiation Therapist journal, the society said.
