GE recently acquired an 87,000-sq-ft facility next door to its existing Electric Avenue site, which will allow for the expansion of its campus. The investment will create a large product development and manufacturing campus for medical imaging.
GE also intends to bring more than 1,500 Wisconsin-based employees to the Electric Avenue location and Research Park in Wauwatosa in the coming years. GE said it plans to sell portions of its Waukesha campus off I-94, with most existing teams and work transferred to other local sites. The MR buildings and teams will remain in place, including around 600 existing jobs.
The changes will also allow GE to showcase its CT wing-to-wing manufacturing and engineering by co-locating similar product and support teams, GE added.
If approved, the $50 million investment is one of the largest one-time investments in a U.S.-based GE Healthcare site, the firm said.
