March 20, 2017 -- The North American radiopharmaceuticals market could double from more than $2 billion in 2015 to $4 billion by 2026, according to market research report firm ReportBuyer.

The widespread availability of SPECT and PET scanners is expected to fuel an increase in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in North America and lead to a compound annual growth rate of 6.2%. The report was produced by Future Market Insights.

For the immediate future, however, growth could be stagnant while new or refurbished nuclear reactors ramp up production of radioisotopes. Still, North America accounted for more than 40% of the market share in global radiopharmaceuticals in 2016, according to ReportBuyer.
