March 15, 2017 -- Siemens Healthineers has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Artis pheno robotic C-arm angiography system for minimally invasive interventional procedures.

Artis pheno features a zen40HDR flat-panel digital detector, a Gigalix x-ray tube, and a new 2k recording technology for enhanced imaging resolution compared to its predecessor, Artis zeego. Artis pheno also offers an antimicrobial coating on the surface of the C-arm, stand, and patient table to help prevent bacteria and viruses from multiplying on the system.

The system's StructureScout exposure control feature is designed to regulate acquisition parameters to automatically achieve optimal image contrast at as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) dose levels.

Artis pheno also has a free inner diameter of 37.6 inches to allow clinicians to stay at the side of pediatric patients. The multitilt table can accommodate up to 617 lb.
