  Take a “Date with Density”

Breast Density Education Webinar

A recent survey conducted online by The Harris Poll among over 1,000 U.S. women found 64 percent of U.S. women do not know that the density of a woman’s breasts affects her risk of developing breast cancer; more than two-thirds of U.S. women (68 percent) do not know their breast density score; and just 36 percent of women have discussed their breast density with a medical professional.iii

This 45-minute session, guided by experts on the frontlines of care, is designed to fill this knowledge gap and arm OB/GYNs with much-needed information on breast density, what it means for patients and how to navigate those conversations to ensure women can make the most informed decisions about their breast health.

Watch now to become a “Certified Density Expert” or share with your OB/GYN referral sites to help inform their patient conversations.

Do Women Know What a Baseline Mammogram Is and Why It’s Important?

A study published in Journal of the American College of Radiology found almost half of women are unaware of the importance of having baseline mammography data available at screening mammography, leaving them at higher risk of having false-positive results and being recalled.

3D Mammography Detects More Architectural Distortions than 2D

A study published in American Journal of Roentgenology found malignant and nonmalignant architectural distortion in breast imaging exams are better detected by DBT than 2D. The study could enable radiologists to devaluate DBT imaging features of AD on mammography, identify the cause of AD with future workup and better manage the distortions.

Sheryl Crow and Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Sheryl Crow, Grammy Award-winner and breast cancer survivor, and leading OB/GYN DaCarla Albright, appeared on television stations nationwide during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to discuss the importance of screening, the benefits of the Genius 3D Mammography exam, and to educate viewers on breast density as a risk factor for breast cancer.

The Evolution of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis

Tracy Accardi, Global VP of R&D at Hologic, discusses the impact of DBT in this article, noting more than 85 percent of women have access to DBT today and it is now officially the gold standard of care. The article explains DBT detects more invasive breast cancers and reduces recall rates, noting facilities that only use traditional 2D mammography will continue to fall farther behind.
