The results of a new Reaction Data survey
shared by Becker's Hospital Review found the vast majority of decision-makers and influencers in radiology –
including radiology and imaging directors, radiologists, chiefs of radiology, techs and PACS admins – view
machine learning technology as important or extremely important to medical imaging. This lends to the discovery
that most radiology departments and imaging centers plan to adopt machine learning technology before 2020.
In fact, 68 percent of providers are currently using, or plan to use, machine learning for breast

A study published in Medical Physics found deep-learning
algorithm can provide a fully automated analysis of breast density on screening mammography exams,
yielding density estimates that correlate well with assessments provided by radiologists. All
mammograms in the study were acquired on a Hologic 3D Mammography™ system.
DOTmed spotlighted a study to be presented at the
ARRS 2018 Annual Meeting, which found rates of false-positive breast cancer screening exams fell significantly
after complete integration of diagnostic BT technology, potentially leading to higher quality, lower costs and
fewer unnecessary biopsies.

The Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam
(also known as the Genius™ exam) is only available
on a Hologic® 3D Mammography™ system.
It consists of a 2D and 3D™ image set, where the 2D
image can be either an acquired 2D image or a 2D image generated
from the 3D™ image set.
