New Features on SecurView DX Workstations Streamline Workflow and Help Improve Radiologist Productivity
The Hologic SecurView diagnostic workstation is the most popular platform for review of digital mammography images in the U.S. market.

New features on the SecurView DX workstation allow radiologists to better review breast images from any modality in concert with review of mammography images.

The new features allow radiologists to better define the orientation and sequence of views in an exam. And the workstation workflow keypad has been integrated with the multimodality viewer to allow radiologists to review cases more efficiently.

Hologic Celebrates 20 Years of Trading on NASDAQ Hologic Launches Website to Help Women Learn More about MammoPad
Many women avoid or delay their annual mammogram because they are afraid of feeling pain during the exam. The MammoPad cushion is a foam pad that serves as a cushion between a woman's breast and the mammography machine resulting in a warmer, softer, more comfortable mammogram.

With less time between image capture and review, the new system can increase patient throughput.

While the Selenia Dimensions 2D system is a brand new platform, it utilizes the same imaging chain as the world's most popular digital mammography system, the Hologic Selenia system.

The Selenia Dimensions 2D system can be configured for 3D breast imaging when and if tomosynthesis is approved by the FDA.
Windsong Radiology Group: Combining the Latest in Technologies and Procedures in a Soothing, Comfortable Environment
The Windsong Radiology Group recognizes all too well that breast imaging can be both uncomfortable and life-changing. So, when they created the new Dr. Janet H. Sung Women's Imaging Center, their primary mission was to provide every patient with the best possible overall experience. While it originated utilizing state-of-the-art technology and fellowship-trained women's imagers providing the most accurate diagnosis, it culminated in a purely serene ambiance dedicated to excellence in imaging.

Based in Buffalo, New York, Windsong Radiology Group is a pioneer in women's imaging. It was the first practice in western New York to implement digital mammography and non-invasive stereotactic biopsies. Windsong was first to add computer-aided detection to their diagnostic workstations, and the practice was first in the area to provide patients with same-day results given directly from a Windsong radiologist. With the installation of a Hologic Selenia Dimensions 2D mammography system, Windsong is hoping to be first again when and if the breast tomosynthesis gets FDA approval.

"We've been watching the progression of the tomosynthesis technology," says Toni Riley, technical general manager. "We feel it is the next step in breast imaging."

New Saints Medical Center Combines Cutting-Edge Technology in a Supportive Spa-like Setting
Life-saving breast imaging and gynecological exams can be stressful, but a new women's center in Andover, Massachusetts, is making these exams feel more like a day at the spa.

Saints Medical Center's new Women's Center for Health + Wellness provides an unprecedented experience for the whole woman; from comprehensive healthcare services to a soothing, intimate environment designed to put women at ease the moment they step through the door.

"With the Women's Center we've created a highly-functional facility that gives women access to cutting-edge technology and the most experienced healthcare team, in a tranquil, non-threatening environment," explains Michael G. Guley, Saints Health System President and CEO.

Saints Medical Center purchased three Hologic Selenia Dimensions 2D systems and multimodality workstations with computer-aided detection. They installed one system in the Women's Center and two systems in the hospital, replacing the hospital's existing digital mammography system from another vendor.

"Our initial plan did not include replacing the hospital mammography equipment, but after we saw Hologic's new technology and what it offered patients, we decided to raise the bar throughout all our facilities by acquiring the best diagnostic equipment to provide the highest level of care," explains Steve Basiliere, supply chain director for the Center.

Excellence in Breast Health through Hologic State-of-the-Art Technology
For more than 40 years, Phoenix Baptist Hospital, a 216-bed acute care facility and teaching hospital, has been providing quality care to patients in the Phoenix, Arizona, community. The hospital has been recognized for excellence in breast health in many ways. It is a Center of Excellence for breast care and women's services and received the Pink Ribbon Facility and Softer Mammogram Provider designations for its use of Hologic Selenia digital mammography and the Hologic MammoPad breast cushion, respectively. But perhaps the most significant recognition is the great distance many women travel, even from other states, for Phoenix Baptist Hospital's mammography services.

"I think it speaks volumes for the department when you have a woman who is willing to drive 75 miles just to come in for her mammogram," said Marketing Director, Jolene Lutes.

In 2008, the hospital replaced its two analog machines with a single Hologic Selenia digital mammography system. Going to one machine was a risky move, considering the system had to support interventional procedures in addition to screening and diagnostics mammography. While many facilities designate a separate machine for interventional procedures, the superior image quality and efficiency of digital allows Phoenix Baptist Hospital to maintain all functions on a single machine in less time than with two screen-film machines.

Hologic, Dimensions, MammoPad, Quantra, SecurView, Pink Ribbon Facility and Selenia are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Hologic and/or its subsidiaries in the U.S. and/or other countries.
