The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) has announced that comedian Dr. Ken Jeong -- who rose to fame as a kidnapped gangster in "The Hangover" -- will be a guest speaker at the group's 2021 virtual meeting in June.

A licensed physician, Jeong received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He practiced medicine for several years but moonlighted as a comedian and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Jeong got his big break in 2009, when he appeared as an Asian mob boss who was inadvertently kidnapped by a group of buddies on a weekend bachelor party in Las Vegas. He has subsequently appeared in a number of television shows and movies, including "Dr. Ken," a situation comedy based on a frustrated physician working at a health maintenance organization.

Jeong is a supporter of the cancer survivor group Stand Up 2 Cancer. His wife Tran was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and underwent treatment while he was filming "The Hangover." She has been cancer-free since then.

SNMMI said Jeong will appear as a celebrity interview guest on June 12 during the society's virtual meeting, which is set to run June 12-15. "No subject will be off-limits," according to the group, as Jeong discusses issues related to the practice of medicine and answers presubmitted questions.
