In this poster presentation, a multi-institutional team of researchers will describe construction of a new direct radiology report input method. This novel system generates structured report text based on the location where a radiologist clicks on the display of the patient's anatomic area being evaluated.

Upon opening an unread study in the worklist queue of a diagnostic workstation, the radiologist first mouse-clicks on an image reporting template. This triggers the system to automatically generate a report skeleton based on the selected template. When an anatomical area of the image is selected and clicked, the system automatically displays content that can be added to the report template.

In its initial phase, the system will be able to process reports for x-ray studies, but later it will be extended to other modalities according to Young Hwan Kim, MD, a radiologist at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA, and an associate professor of radiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Yang Guo Liang of the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium in Singapore will make the presentation.
