Samsung NeuroLogica upgrades portable CT scanner

Samsung NeuroLogica has launched BodyTom Elite, a 32-slice, full-body portable CT scanner.

An upgraded version of BodyTom, BodyTom Elite received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in June, the company said. It features a new visual design, along with an upgraded workstation, software, and hardware, according to the vendor.

Hardware enhancements include linear and step calibration for navigation accuracy in axial and helical scanning. The vendor has also incorporated a tilt sensor that indicates if there are any significant shifts on the floor. A step correction feature automatically adjusts for slight movements.

BodyTom Elite also includes an upgraded lift system to reduce setup time and enhance table alignment, according to the firm. Other enhancements include a two-way patient communication system and faster processing speed with 32 GB of RAM and an upgraded processor.
