Varian debuts new radiological protection design software

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has released new computer-aided engineering (CAE) software for simplifying the process of designing shielding and radiological protection systems.

Varian's new Attila4MC software provides engineers using Monte Carlo N-Particle code in their product designs with a graphical user interface (GUI) that simplifies and accelerates the calculation process, the firm said. Attila4MC could be particularly useful for research involving medical physics and nuclear engineering.

Attila4MC has computer-aided detection (CAD) integration, GUI-based calculation setup, and automated variance reduction. The software shortens the analysis cycle and allows the utilization of detailed Monte Carlo simulation results to optimize the safety, reliability, and performance of products being developed, Varian said. There is also an optional CAD add-on.
