U-Systems debuts somo.v Platinum at RSNA

Ultrasound developer U-Systems has introduced somo.v Platinum, an update to its somo.v automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) system, at the RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.

The new system features proprietary imaging performance and screening workflow advances, and is designed to streamline exam efficiency while improving image quality and clinical confidence, according to the company.

The ergonomic Reverse Curve Technology conforms to the anatomic curve of women's breasts for improved comfort and imaging performance during an automated 3D ultrasound exam. It creates uniform compression thickness across the entire breast for enhanced image equality, and greater image overlap ensures wide field-of-view imaging, increasing confidence of viewing the entire breast.

The system also features Abella Workflow, a clinical workflow method for the quick, accurate review of ABUS exams. Designed specifically for the high-throughput breast screening environment, Abella presents optimized ABUS 3D breast image volumes quickly and in precise hanging protocols aimed at improving exam efficiency and clinical confidence. Abella applies advanced image processing algorithms that reduce background noise, improve contrast, and sharpen detail resolution, according to U-Systems.
