Agfa gets FDA nod for DX-D 600

Agfa HealthCare has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance to market its DX-D 600 direct digital x-ray system in the U.S. and is launching the system at this week's RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.

The fully motorized, autopositioning ceiling-mounted DR system features advanced Musica2 image processing software, NX workstation technology, and dual cesium iodide DR detector technology. The system is ideal for facilities with a high patient load that are looking to streamline workflow to increase patient comfort, according to the company.

Agfa also announced at the RSNA meeting that its Xero zero-footprint image viewer is now available with IMPAX 6.5 for facilities worldwide. The viewer employs Web 2.0 standard integration and visualization methods to provide secure access to standard healthcare data on any standard operating system or browser, according to the company. It receives all the information needed in real-time from the image source, so there are no data synchronization issues or additional databases or caches to manage.
