U-Systems to launch new probe at RSNA 2011

Ultrasound developer U-Systems plans to debut new transducer technology for use with its somo.v automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) system at the upcoming RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.

The company's Reverse-Curve technology conforms to the anatomic curve of women's breasts for improved comfort and imaging performance during an automated 3D ultrasound exam, according to U-Systems.

It offers convergent scan line geometry, which allows sound waves to penetrate the skin perpendicularly, minimizing beam refraction, improving penetration, and sharpening focus at depth, the company said. The technology also creates uniform compression thickness across the entire breast.
