Medspira to show upgraded Breath Hold

Respiratory motion monitoring technology developer Medspira plans to show an advanced version of its Breath Hold standalone system for multiple imaging modalities at this month's RSNA meeting in Chicago.

The technology features monitoring applications in radiation therapy for treatments involving the lungs and upper abdomen. It is also designed for patients to accurately self-monitor breathing patterns based on biofeedback delivered by the device's visual display, the firm said.

Breath Hold combines an expandable bellows system and a pressure-sensitive transducer tube, which is wrapped around a patient's chest or stomach to measure changes in abdominal girth due to respiration, according to Medspira.
