PACS developer Sectra is preparing to launch a variety of new software updates at next month's RSNA meeting.
Sectra Diagnostic Imaging Suite is new Web-based RIS/PACS software that's optimized for efficient radiology workflow, according to the company. The software combines all elements of enterprise workflow, including planning, order entry, scheduling, patient throughput and documentation, follow-up, and billing.
Highlights for the software at the RSNA show include single-workstation reporting with embedded speech recognition within the PACS, regardless of RIS or HIS. Meanwhile, a patient portal is available for Sectra's customers in North America that supports the certification criteria required to meet meaningful use objectives under the U.S. government's healthcare IT stimulus program.
Sectra Referring Physician Suite is designed to enable Web-based access to RIS/PACS networks for referring physicians, with features including online ordering, access to reports and images, advanced imaging tools such as preoperative planning modules and volume visualization, and integration with HIS and electronic patient records. The company will also demonstrate computerized physician order entry (CPOE) for the Northern European market.
In enterprise sharing, Sectra will show a cross-enterprising sharing application in its Cross Enterprise Suite that is built on the XDS1 standard and based on the company's RapidConnect technology. Radiologists can work from any location with reasonable Internet access, sharing images and information between locations. The offering includes the company's Image Central and Open Archive technologies.
In women's health, Sectra is launching OneScreen, a new service that uses standard x-ray images of the hand to create bone mineral density measurements using digital x-ray radiogrammetry (DXR). The images are acquired at the same time as breast images, using the same equipment, the company said, and images are sent to Sectra's online lab for analysis.
Sectra has also upgraded its Sectra Breast Imaging PACS software to support digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) images. The company will also highlight the software's support for multimodality breast images and computer-aided detection (CAD), which has been built into the reading workstation.
Finally, Sectra will demonstrate its Sectra Visualization Table, a 46-inch medical multitouch display that enables multiple users to interact and collaborate on real-size 3D MRI and CT images.
