Agfa prepares for RSNA product launches

Agfa HealthCare is preparing to showcase a number of new additions and updates to its IT portfolio at the upcoming 2011 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

Version 2.0 of Agfa's Clinical Applications Suite offers an image processing package that is integrated into Agfa's Impax reporting workflow and includes specific applications such as maximum intensity projection (MIP)/multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), base and extended 3D, and PET/CT viewing with fusion, according to the company.

Agfa will also highlight its Xero zero-footprint image viewer for Impax. The viewer employs Web 2.0 standard integration and visualization methods to provide secure access to standard healthcare data, according to Agfa.

In addition, the company will discuss usability, workflow and productivity, and business intelligence enhancements to its Impax 6.5 PACS software. New tools supporting the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Mammography Image Profile have been added to solve typical display problems in mixed-vendor environments, according to the vendor.

Agfa has also added automated multiplanar spine labeling and fully integrated advanced image processing via its Impax Registration & Fusion and Volume Viewing clinical applications. Other additions include improvements in image and information distribution to referring physicians at the point of care, new communication tools for improving the exchange and delivery of vital information, and other functionality and workflow enhancements aimed at improving the management of high-volume studies with multiple series, Agfa said.

Receptionists employing Agfa's Impax RIS will now be able to view an enhanced overview to support a more patient-centric experience, according to the firm. Technologists have also been given new tools -- such as a visual indication for available and/or missing information and an exam counter -- to enhance procedure efficiency and data verification.

Agfa will also highlight the latest updates to its Impax Reporting package, along with version 4.1 of its TalkStation speech recognition offering. New features on Impax Reporting include Extended Addendum workflows and customizable templates, as well as on-the-fly personalization of standard texts.

TalkStation 4.1 features Agfa's Dictate, Edit, and Sign workflow, as well as infrastructure improvements realized through the addition of Nuance's Dragon 10.1 speech engine, Microsoft Windows 7, and Microsoft SQL 2008, the company said.
