Carestream launches new cloud-based service

Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, launched a new addition to its portfolio of cloud-based Carestream eHealth Managed Services at the RSNA meeting in Chicago this week.

The new eHealth portal service enables healthcare providers that use Carestream's remote eHealth Archive Services to allow access to their data by any authorized user in the world via the Internet.

With the service, radiologists can perform cloud-based reading of exams using advanced diagnostic tools and access patient information, including previous exams. Referring physicians also can have access to view exam reports and key images, eliminating the need for distributing CDs, according to the company.

The service will be available in the U.S. and Europe in early 2011, Carestream said.
