Zonare unveils z.one upgrades at RSNA show

Ultrasound technology developer Zonare Medical Systems of Mountain View, CA, brought several new capabilities, including a new software release for its z.one ultrasound system, to the RSNA meeting in Chicago.

Zonare has now added real-time 3D ultrasound imaging capabilities (4D) to the z.one system, with the new C8-3 curved-array transducer designed for second and third trimester obstetrical imaging. The C8-3 offers 3D/4D fetal surface rendering, multiplanar rendering (MPR), and additional diagnostic tools. The new 3D/4D imaging capabilities are also available for general abdominal ultrasound imaging.

Another new transducer is the lightweight and ergonomically designed E9-3 for 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging for endovaginal applications. Providing up to 135° of imaging with imaging frequency choices from 9-3 MHz, the transducer offers volume data imaging, including MPR and tomographic views.

In addition, Zonare is showing the new C10-3 curved-array transducer that offers continuous wave Doppler (CW) imaging to evaluate high velocity blood flow of cardiac anomalies in neonatal and pediatric patients. Other applications include neonatal/pediatric head imaging and abdominal imaging.

The company is also offering contrast-enhanced ultrasound for left ventricular opacification (LVO), with the P4-1c phased-array echocardiography transducer. This application allows the clinician to visualize the left ventricle wall and endocardium in technically difficult patients by opacifying the chamber with contrast, making it easier to evaluate heart function.

Finally, Zonare will demonstrate its new 2D Zone Steer upgrade available for all linear transducers. 2D Zone Steer offers clinicians the ability to steer the 2D image to the left or right for improved resolution and needle visualization, according to the company.
