Lernout & Hauspie to buy Dragon Systems

Lernout & Hauspie continues to move aggressively to build up its business. Just weeks after announcing a deal to buy >Dictaphone for $936 million, the Burlington, MA-based firm has signed a definitive agreement to acquire fellow speech recognition firm >Dragon Systems for approximately $593 million. Dragon of Newton, MA, offers its NaturallySpeaking continuous speech recognition products in a variety of markets, including healthcare. L&H expects the deal to close in the next few months.
