SonoSite gets OK to market in Japan

Hand-held ultrasound developer SonoSite and its Japanese partner, Olympus Optical, have received clearance from the Japan Ministry of Health and Welfare to market SonoSite's 180 ultrasound unit in Japan. The system will initially be marketed for use in gynecology, obstetrics, urology, and general purpose abdominal imaging, according to Bothell, WA-based SonoSite. Shipments are expected to begin immediately.
