VISUS VIEW International No. 3

Welcome to the third edition of VISUS VIEW - Digitized diagnosis in medicine. It reflects, once again, the international orientation of our company which has its origins in the heart of Europe, in Germany.

The factors driving our own internationalization have been manifold: processes in hospitals differ between healthcare systems. We have adjusted our solutions to the requirements in the various systems, and we have learned a lot on the way.

The know-how and experiences we gathered, initially, from implementations in those regions have helped to optimize our software – for the benefit of all customers.

JiveX Integrated Imaging

Within radiology departments, image management based on the DICOM Standard is already an integral part of most hospitals. However, the non-radiological modalities are generally decentralized and distributed throughout the hospital campus with records being located locally at the point of creation. Each local system has its own viewer and a separate archive. To make matters worse, it is often that case that the results cannot be exported or imported digitally with the result that complete information is not available campus-wide.

Lapin sairaanhoitopiiri, Lapland Hospital District

The Lapland Hospital District in the northernmost region of the country caters for between a quarter and a third of Finlands territory. This vast area is populated by only 2.5% of the country´s inhabitants - not even 119,000 people live here; every year, however, Lapland - "Lappi" in Finnish - is visited by some 1,800,000 tourists. To provide basic, or even specialized, health services to this disparate population presents a major challenge to local authorities. PACS from VISUS has now turned into a key support tool for health workers in the region.

Bahrain Defense Force Royal Medical Services

At BDFRMS, the discussion had shifted from "Do we need a PACS?" to whether to go for a department or modality oriented system or instead for a hospital-wide solution. Approaches differed widely, with issues reaching far beyond simple cost matters. The decision was taken in favor of JiveX Enterprise PACS, fundamentally changing the paradigm of work in radiology.
