ACR taps new officers

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has appointed Dr. Bibb Allen Jr. as the new chair of its Board of Chancellors.

A diagnostic radiologist in the Birmingham Radiological Group, Allen is former vice chair of the Board of Chancellors, former chair of the ACR Commission on Economics, and former ACR representative to the AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee, according to ACR. He is also chair of the Neiman Health Policy Institute's advisory board.

In other appointments, ACR has also named Dr. James Brink as vice chair of the Board of Chancellors, Dr. Paul Ellenbogen as president, and Dr. Deborah Levine as vice president.

Brink is radiologist in chief at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Juan M. Taveras professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. In addition, he is immediate past chair of the ACR Commission on Body Imaging and co-chair of Image Wisely, and he serves on the Journal of the American College of Radiology editorial board.

A partner in Radiology Assoc. of North Texas, Ellenbogen served as chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors from 2012-2014, as vice chair from 2010-2012, and as secretary-treasurer from 2006-2010. He has also held various other leadership posts within the ACR. He is a fellow of the ACR, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.

Levine is vice chair of academic affairs in the department of radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and chair of the Harvard Medical School Longer Service Committee, according to ACR. She is also a professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, the past chair of the ACR Commission on Ultrasound, senior deputy editor of Radiology, and vice president of the Massachusetts Radiological Society.
