3DISC prepares for RSNA 2011 debuts

Computed radiography (CR) manufacturer 3DISC Imaging will show a dental imaging CR reader and the next generation of its FireCR readers at the upcoming RSNA 2011 meeting in Chicago.

The vendor's FireCR Dental Reader features a tablet computer for chairside review and patient consultation, according to the vendor. The 10.1-inch tablet can be attached to any PC and employs touchscreen software that provides dentists with immediate access to dental images, 3DISC said.

The reader itself, which is smaller than a shoebox, is DICOM 3.0-compatible with existing systems. It utilizes low-cost, reusable imaging plates in a variety of sizes, including bite-wing and intraoral dental imaging plates, according to the vendor. FireCR Dental Reader is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2012.

In other RSNA introductions, 3DISC will unveil FireCR+ Medical Reader and FireCR+ Veterinary Reader, the next generation of its FireCR portfolio. FireCR+ Readers incorporate significant improvements in image quality, increased stability, and reduced maintenance requirements, 3DISC said.
