3DISC gets FDA nod for CR readers

Computed radiography (CR) manufacturer 3DISC has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its FireCR line of CR readers, as well as its QuantorMed imaging software.

FireCR readers can be configured for most medical and chiropractic applications and support the DICOM standard, while the QuantorMed software provides optimized image acquisition, processing, and management capabilities. In addition, autocalibration technology ensures image stability and consistency, even when the readers are transported on a cart or in a mobile imaging unit.

FireCR readers can be upgraded to higher throughput speeds with a smart card update, which gives users the ability to start with an entry-level reader and increase productivity as their needs change, according to the company.
