Carestream Health plans to introduce a new computed radiography (CR) system at the upcoming RSNA 2014 meeting.

Vita Flex CR has a flexible design that allows it to operate vertically as well as horizontally, so that it can process CR cassettes sitting on the floor, a tabletop or desktop, or even from the back of a mobile imaging van, Carestream said. The device can process various cassette sizes, including 8 x 10 inch, 10 x 12 inch, 14 x 14 inch, 14 x 17 inch, and 24 x 30 cm, and it is available with the choice of two throughput rates, 30 plates per hour or 45 plates per hour.

The company plans to make the device available on December 8.
