Carestream to collaborate with Buffalo Bills

Carestream Health and the National Football League's Buffalo Bills have inked an agreement to facilitate the development of imaging technology for the early detection and monitoring of brain injuries.

The partnership will enable Carestream to create new technology to address sports medicine concerns, particularly related to head injuries, such as early diagnosis of injuries, developing medical standards that indicate if an athlete can return to play, and research that can assist in early diagnosis of long-term degenerative medical conditions in the head and brain, according to the vendor.

As part of the partnership, Carestream has installed its DRX-Ascend system and a DirectView computed radiography (CR) system at the Buffalo Bills' Ralph Wilson Stadium. Carestream said it will also make its DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray unit available to the team during its regular-season game in Toronto.
