FDA issues adverse MQSA report for ND hospital

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted an adverse event report for a North Dakota hospital's mammography performance.

Last October, the American College of Radiology (ACR) conducted an additional review of mammograms performed by Wishek Community Hospital in Wishek, ND, as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). In January, ACR notified the hospital that the mammograms it had reviewed did not meet MQSA criteria for clinical image quality, and it revoked the hospital's accreditation.

The FDA required that the hospital notify all at-risk patients and their providers of the mammography image-quality problems, which the hospital did. Wishek Community Hospital is not currently performing mammography exams, the agency said.
