Hitachi Aloka signs on to distribute iVu breast ABUS

Hitachi Aloka Medical America has inked a deal to become the exclusive distributor of automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) developer iVu Imaging's Sofia system in North America.

Hitachi highlighted Sofia, which is targeted to women with mammographically dense breasts, at the recent RSNA 2014 meeting in Chicago.

The firm also integrated its transducer technology into the automated whole-breast ultrasound system to improve image acquisition and interpretation times. As a result, an entire breast volume can now be acquired in 52 seconds and an average study can be interpreted in less than two minutes, according to the vendor.
