Volpara releases upgraded version of density software

Breast imaging software developer Volpara Solutions released version 3.1 of its VolparaDensity software at the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI)/American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Symposium in Orlando, FL.

The latest version supports digital mammography from all leading vendors and tomosynthesis datasets from Hologic, GE Healthcare, and Siemens Healthcare tomosynthesis systems. Also, VolparaDensity 3.1 supports Hologic sites that use C-View synthetic 2D images and GE SenoClaire sites that acquire 2D craniocaudal (CC) and 3D mediolateral-oblique (MLO) images, Volpara said.

VolparaDensity uses the same algorithm to process both the acquired tomosynthesis projections and the raw data of a conventional 2D mammogram.

VolparaDensity 3.1 has additional features such as new configuration flexibility for patient-specific compression pressure calculations and the ability to route patient results by Volpara density grades (VDGs), which are analogous to BI-RADS density categories. Users may also configure the system to automatically send density results for women with very dense breasts to a specific interpreting radiologist or a breast density specialist for review.
