SDMS announces grants, scholarships

The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) has announced its 2017 grants and scholarships, including two new grants.

The first new grant is a hardship award of $160 to support sonographers who are temporarily disabled or unemployed and experiencing financial hardship that prevents them from renewing their SDMS membership. The second is a research grant ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to support researchers who propose a "unique and pressing research topic" to the SDMS Foundation.

The grants already in place range from $250 to $1,000 to provide financial assistance for attendance at the SDMS annual conference, to help sonographers with additional certifications, and to support those working in international healthcare.

The society's scholarships are $2,500 and support sonography students accepted or enrolled in an accredited program, as well as students pursuing an advanced degree.
