Terason ultrasound system added to Cardiospace mission

Ultrasound technology developer Terason said that its Doppler laser and ultrasound scanner will be used in the Cardiospace mission, a joint French and Chinese study that will assess how astronauts' cardiovascular systems adapt to microgravity conditions and are deconditioned upon return to Earth.

For its part of the Cardiospace project, Terason's 3200 system will measure both the microcirculation and macrocirculation of astronauts. It will be used on the new TianGong-2 orbital module for about one month by two Chinese astronauts set to fly on the ShenZhou-11 mission, which will launch and then dock with the orbital module in mid-October, Terason said. The TianGong-2 was launched on September 15 from China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
