Trial date set in Australian 4D ultrasound case

An Australian woman charged with selling phony ultrasound photographs of unborn babies to expecting parents is set to go to trial.

Rawinia Hayes of Amazing 4D Imaging is scheduled to go to trial on July 18 for allegedly selling fetal ultrasound images that were not the mothers' babies, according to a report in the South Western Times.

Hayes was charged after an Australian consumer protection unit received 76 written complaints from women who discovered they had received identical ultrasound images from Amazing 4D after they had shared the photos on Facebook.

The report cited a Department of Commerce lawyer as saying as many as 13 people will serve as witnesses and provide evidence at the trial, including the nine complainants and two experts.

Hayes' defense attorney reportedly is reviewing 12 CDs and a report from an ultrasound expert as part of the prosecution's case.
