FDA clears new version of Siemens ultrasound scanner

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared a new version of Siemens Healthcare's Acuson SC2000 cardiovascular ultrasound device.

Acuson SC2000 Prime offers live full-volume color Doppler imaging of heart valve anatomy and blood flow using a true-volume transesophageal echo probe. The device allows physicians to obtain an anatomically accurate view of the heart and dynamic blood flow in one view during interventional valve procedures, even in patients with electrocardiogram (ECG) abnormalities, Siemens said.

The system also includes Siemens' eSie Valves advanced analysis semiautomated software package, which measures heart valves during cardiac procedures, according to the firm.
