GE releases new version of Logiq e scanner

GE Healthcare announced that the new version of its Logiq e ultrasound scanner is commercially available in the U.S.

The latest edition of Logiq e features a programmable linear transducer with buttons designed to simplify the use of portable ultrasound and needle-guided procedures at the point of care, according to the vendor. The scanner also comes with a 1.5-MHz curved transducer for deep penetration of obese patients and an ultrahigh-frequency 10- to 22-MHz linear transducer for superficial imaging, GE said.

In addition, GE has included a follow-up tool with fusion application to ensure technical consistency from exam to exam. The system's power Doppler imaging (PDI) quantification software provides a numeric representation of blood flow that may be associated with inflammation, tumors, and synovitis, while a high-resolution PDI tool depicts neovascularization to assist in the early detection of inflammation in rheumatology, GE said.

The scanner's needle recognition features provide users with separate control of the needle appearance as compared to the surrounding anatomy, according to the vendor.
