Atirix lands 2 quality control patents

Medical software developer Atirix Medical Systems has been awarded two U.S. patents for quality control (QC) systems and methods.

Patent No. 8,478,610 covers the use of QC dashboards and scheduled QC tests to manage the QC process in diagnostic imaging centers for mammography, full-field digital mammography (FFDM), MRI, x-ray, and ultrasound systems and related peripheral devices, according to Atirix.

The second patent, No. 8,428,969, covers a computer-based process of performing QC, such as required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), in breast imaging centers on mammography, FFDM, MRI, x-ray, and ultrasound systems. The covered process includes completing preprogrammed test worksheets based on a schedule, storing QC data in a database, and generating QC reports for audits, the company said.

Both awards are based on a provisional patent application the company filed on January 19, 2005, Atirix said.
