Double Black debuts X-Cal Web, new LCDs at RSNA

Monitor distributor Double Black Imaging is launching its X-Cal Web calibration suite, new LCD lines, and DICOMetrix PACS performance monitoring software at this year's RSNA 2010 meeting in Chicago.

X-Cal Web allows for complete front DICOM calibration and quality assurance of the company's LCDs, as well as the ability to track and manage calibrations for other LCDs. X-Cal consists of two components, a local agent package and a network administrative package that is now easily accessible via the Web.

Paired with the company's displays, the software allows remote calibration of each display to the DICOM grayscale display function, monitoring of each display from a remote central location, automatic e-mail notifications when service is required, and control of display settings, adjustments, and launching of calibrations/conformance remotely, according to the Westminster, CO-based vendor.

Double Black is also featuring its DICOMetrix Software Suite. The DICOMetrix PACS performance monitoring software measures DICOM images per second or per minute, well as general network traffic. DICOMetrix Client monitors the workstation level and gives real-time speed of the images coming into the station. DICOMetrix Server resides on the DICOM Server and monitors IPs sending into this server, as well as outgoing traffic. DICOMetrix Enterprise Server monitors all clients and servers in one location. After base-lining the system, it also allows alerts to be set if speed levels drop below the set tolerance.

The company is also showcasing its new self-calibrating LCDs, including a 10-megapixel (MP) display for digital mammography and PACS; 2-, 3-, and 5-MP monochrome displays; and 2- and 3-MP high-bright color displays. The LCDs feature digital uniformity control, true DICOM self-calibration via front sensors and backlight sensor for luminance, bonded protective panels, and the upgraded X-Cal calibration software suite.

In addition, Double Black is highlighting its lines of 20.1- and 24-inch 2-MP clinical color LCDs and 19-, 24-, 42-inch surgical displays. The clinical displays are DICOM-compliant and feature ultrahigh brightness and contrast ratios. The surgical displays feature full high-definition resolution and ultrahigh brightness and contrast. They support a wide variety of video inputs for existing and new camera technologies and eliminate costly signal conversion, image degradation, and image lag. The surgical displays also feature the exceptionally fast response time necessary when viewing live video or motion and the versatility to view images in picture-in-picture or picture-by-picture format. They can be mounted on a boom, wall, or cart.
