Kerpelman takes stake, heads Bio-Optronics

Dan Kerpelman, one-time president of the former Kodak Health Imaging Group, has purchased a majority stake in healthcare IT firm Bio-Optronics and will become the Rochester, NY, company's president and CEO.

Bio-Optronics' current president and chief technology officer (CTO) Mike Kamish will remain with the company as vice president and CTO.

Kerpelman most recently served as CEO of the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) in Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to that, he headed Kodak's healthcare unit for almost three years before stepping down in February 2005. Prior to Kodak, Kerpelman held several positions at GE Healthcare, now based in Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., including general manager of the global x-ray business.

Bio-Optronics specializes in healthcare workflow software. The company's portfolio includes workflow management and optimization products for hospitals, specialty medical practices, and clinical research.
