Vital installs research VNA at Mount Sinai

Advanced visualization software developer Vital Images has delivered an enterprise vendor-neutral archive (VNA) for clinical and research purposes to the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City.

The company said it adapted its Vitrea VNA software to support big-data imaging research, incorporating a multitiered data management concept proposed by Dr. David Mendelson, vice chair of radiology IT and senior associate of clinical informatics at Mount Sinai.

In the first tier of access, an encryption engine maintains the clinical metadata and images but deidentifies any direct linkage to the actual patient. The second tier provides access to clinicians who need to utilize patient-specific data, according to the vendor.
