Sony offers new support for radiology monitors

Sony Electronics' Medical Systems Division said it is launching new support products for radiology monitors at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in Grapevine, TX.

Sony currently offers a five-year limited warranty, but facilities can now choose from two new service options under its "hot swap" service program.

The first option, the five-year optional advanced exchange program, provides a replacement monitor within 24 hours in the event of a product malfunction at no cost, according to Sony.

The second choice, the five-year optional OTS (on-time support) advanced loaner program, provides advanced technical support and new or refurbished loaner units with comparable functionality in the event of a product malfunction, Sony said. Once the original monitor is repaired, it is returned to the customer and the loaner is returned to Sony. The program is important for end users who need to keep the originally purchased monitor for accounting purposes.

Sony's LMD-DM50 and LMD-DM30 medical-grade monitors feature independent subpixel-drive technology for high image resolution, the company said.
