McKesson lands British Columbia deal

Healthcare information systems firm McKesson said it has been named by the British Columbia Ministry of Health as the vendor of choice for its radiologist peer review initiative.

The Ministry of Health will use McKesson's Qualitative Intelligence and Communication System (QICS) for radiologist peer review in a pilot project aimed at modernizing medical imaging processes and improving quality of care, according to McKesson.

QICS will be rolled out first at the Vancouver Island Health Authority as part of the initial phase of the program, which includes more than 200 radiologists, McKesson said. The provincial project will ultimately span a region more than 1.4 times larger than the state of Texas and involve radiologists reviewing more than 3.5 million exams a year, according to the vendor.
